(Scripture references are from The Amplified Bible unless noted. Bold, underscore, and highlight are used for emphasis.)

Psalms 133:1 – Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

John 17:20-21 – (20) Neither for these alone do I pray [it is not for their sake only that I make this request], but also for all those who will ever come to believe in (trust in, cling to, rely on) Me through their word and teaching. (21) That they all may be one, [just] as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe and be convinced that You have sent Me.

1 Corinthians 6:17 – But the person who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him.

Ephesians 4:1-6 – verse 3 (KJV) – Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

NOTE: Please read Ephesians 4 in its entirety.

The church, the body of Christ, will never be united until there is first unity with the Godhead. Unity results from being incorporated into Christ through His death, burial, resurrection, ascension, and reign. Unity starts individually, then corporately.

It is essential to identify with Christ in the five areas listed above. Webster’s New World Dictionary defines incorporation as being combined into one body or unit; it means being united. The New Strong’s Concordance defines unity as oneness; it means unanimity (complete agreement).

Amos 3:3 – (KJV) – Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?

Unity in the home, friends, family, and church would manifest if there were “agreement” with God’s Word. For example, Luke 14:26 reads: If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his [own] father and mother [in the sense of indifference to or relative disregard for them in comparison with his attitude toward God] and [likewise] his wife and children and brothers and sisters – [yes] and even his own life also – he cannot be My disciple.

This is a radical commitment to prioritize Christ above everyone and everything. It involves selfdenial, picking up your cross, and renouncing all that does not exalt Christ. This commitment involves “being a true disciple” as God defines it—not holding on to problematic heart issues and saying that you are a disciple. When there is authentic love for God, the heart grieves at behavior that does not align with His character.

2 Corinthians 13:5 – Examine and test and evaluate yourselves to see whether you are holding to your faith and showing the proper fruits of it. Test and prove yourselves [not Christ]. Do you not yourselves realize and know [thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you–unless you are [counterfeits] disapproved on trial and rejected?

Proper fruits are according to God’s Word, not deception. God is Love, and everything we do should be done from the foundation of love. Love is “not” God’s love when there is a “but” at the end of I love you.

I pray you can see why unity is lacking in our marriages, families, friends, the church, and, thus, our country.

Please read all of Isaiah 59:1-8. Verses 1 and 2 read: (1) Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened at all, that it cannot save, nor His ear dull with deafness, that it cannot hear. (2) But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.

My dear reader, it is time for humility and absolute surrender in us individually and in the body of Christ. God is not limited in His ability to save or His heart to hear us—He has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in the heavenlies. But we must agree with His Word—be the Word so that others can be saved and know that HEAVEN RULES!
